Catherine Shaffer is a writer of science fiction and fantasy, and a freelance journalist based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Catherine reports full time for the biotechnology industry’s leading news outlet, BioWorld Today, and freelances for a number of other magazines. Her nonfiction work has appeared in Nature Biotechnology, Nature Medicine, Genetic Engineering News, Drug Discovery and Development, Genomics and Proteomics, Pharmaceutical Formulation and Quality, Food Quality, Wired News, and many others. Her fiction work has appeared in Analog Science Fiction and Science Fact, Oceans of the Mind, Nature, and the anthologies Turn the Other Chick and Heroes in Training. Her outside interests include yoga, playing the violin, traveling in her vintage Airstream trailer, parenting, and pets. She lives with her husband, her twelve-year old son, two English mastiffs, and two cats.
